Today
Friday January 28, 2011, three months after it was approved by the Senate, is published in the Official Journal of the Federation decree which amended 24 articles of the General Law of Education of Mexico.
The most notable changes are:
- Creation of a National Register of Teachers.
- Creation of the National Education Information System.
- Establishment of a National Evaluation System for entering teachers.
- Evaluation for promotion of teachers in service.
- Creation of a National Register of students, institutions and schools.
The above Act provides that the obligation of state governments to coordinate, operate and regulate the above changes in the respective states in coordination with the federal government.
The document does not mention secondary operating rules or laws that implement the actions prescribed, nor the budget to carry out the changes instructed.
